A surprise visit

Friday, April 25th, 2008

This afternoon, I had a surprise visit from Max (呂元鐘). It’s been a long time since I last saw him. Max graduated from NHSH about 7 years ago and has his own business now. Aggressive and ambitious, he seems to enjoy all the adventure in his life.

This is the beauty of being a teacher. Although you don’t change much, you marvel at what a life your students have after they leave school.

This afternoon I attended a conference at CEEC. According to the statistics CEEC offered, this year’s (97) SAT is the easiest one among the recent five years’. The items with P=or >0.51 account for 78.5%. Some teachers mentioned that it couldn’t differentiate the real top students from the rest. (more…)

At this site, you can see how the automatic page turner & scanner for books works.

http://www.4digitalbooks.com/

In Lesson 10, we learned that the robot from the Swiss company 4DigitalBooks turns pages at the rate of 1,000 pages per hour, but here you see the page turner turn pages at the speed of 3,000 pages per hour. More advanced!

To :P:

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

Are you and 是妳的學生 :P : the same person? It is sweet of you to say those words. I remember a line of words on TV I saw when I was studying at Illinois: Some words hurt; some words heal. Surely, your words warm my heart. Thank you.
