I didn’t expect my blog could serve as a bridge between two long-separated souls. My former colleague and also my friend Shu got reconnected with her high school friend, her student who she taught around 15 years ago, and, most recently, her college classmate. Just now, when I opened my blog, I saw a comment left by a student I taught at Chieh-show Junior High School more than 20 years ago. (more…)
Today is the third anniversary of my blogging!
I still remember the two days when I learned blogging at Jingmei Girls High School, the instructors Mr. Chen (陳怡杰老師) and Ms. Tsai (蔡明璇老師), the excitement of seeing my first entry online, and the exhilaration of discovering an easy way to connect with the world, to share with the world my thoughts, my ideas, my beliefs, and my love for many things. A former 306 student, who is a junior in college now, told me last Saturday, NHSH anniversary, that his classmate You-cyuan (王有全) keeps an interesting blog with an unconventional layout. Then, by typing his Chinese name, I easily found his blog.
Take a look at it, and you will be attacted not only by its layout but also by its content.
This morning when I told Class 209 that those who are going to take the 2nd stage of GEPT, which is held in March and contains speaking and writing tests, can consult the English writing category in my blog duting the winter vacation, I felt very happy that I kept the blog. With the blog, my current students can join my past. If I hadn’t, I would not have anything left for them to read now. Besides, with all the materials kept in the cyberspace, my students can have easy access to them anytime anywhere. If I give them handouts, they might either lose or don’t need them. After more than two years of keeping blog, I still enjoy it. (more…)
This morning, Meng-fang (蔡孟芳老師), a colleague and friend of mine, told me she read my blog yesterday for the first time and was touched. She read it until midnight, one entry after another. Her words made my day. When she asked how she could email someone the entries on “If I Were a Freshman Again,” I thought to myself, “Yes, that’s one of the reasons I kept the blog for.” (more…)
This morning, I gave each of the students in my two classes a piece of chocolate to celebrate my 2nd blogging anniversary. After I told them that I would like to celebrate my perseverance with them, both the classes applauded. They are so lovely!
Today is the 2nd anniversary of my blogging. On this day two years ago, I attended a workshop on blogging, and since then I’ve been keeping my blog every day for two years, without any intermission. I celebrated my persistence on the 1st anniversary last year by giving Classes 310, 313, and 314 a piece of chocolate. Tomorrow I’m going to celebrate the 2nd anniversary with Classes 214 and 209. 731 days nonstop! (more…)
A colleague called me this evening and asked if I still had the supplementary material about Martin Luther King. She remembered I shared an informative handout with her about two years ago. I told her I would check for her over the weekend.
I did use the supplementary material when I taught “I Have a Dream” last year; however, during the summer vacation, I cleaned up my study and reorganized everything in here. So now I have to search and “dig” the material out. (more…)
My dear friend Annie (詹麗馨) won an award in the blog contest held by National Teachers’ Association. She started her blog in December, 2005 and has since shared on it numerous ideas and information with her readers. In her blog, you can find many inspiring passages. What’s most special is her reading notes, which can serve as a good guide to book selection. Just browse it, and you’ll be amazed at what you find. http://blog.roodo.com/anniechan/ Congratulations, Annie!
